Welcome to The Glenleighden School

The Glenleighden School supports children and young people with language disorders to achieve their educational and personal potential. We do this by providing comprehensive intensive multi-disciplinary programs. Established in 1977 the Glenleighden School has helped and supported some thousands of children and their families from all over Australia and overseas. The school is an initiative of the CHI. L. D. Association.

Our Students

The Glenleighden School caters specifically for children with severe to profound speech language impairment … Primary Language Disorder. For enrolment a child will have no more than 2 per cent of the speech language capacity of his or her peers.

Our aim

The Glenleighden School aims to assist children to be transitioned to a main-stream school setting as soon as such a move is feasible. For those for whom such a transition is not desirable the Glenleighden School provides opportunities for them to develop their skills and talents to their ultimate potential.


At The Glenleighden School we offer a multi-disciplinary program embracing academic subjects with support from a range of specialists in speech therapy occupational therapy physiotherapy psychology and music therapy.


All students take part in an annual concert sports day and awards presentation evening.


Enrolment enquiries are handled by a specialist team whose task is to determine if the Glenleighden program is an appropriate setting for each child.
