San Sisto College . A Catholic community in the Dominican tradition where the heart mind and spirit of each young woman is nurtured challenged and shaped by the lived experience of the Gospel.
Curriculum and Development
The San Sisto College curriculum provides a highly academic environment for all students preparing girls for university vocational employment or further training. We seek to nurture challenge and extend the learning of all girls to best meet their their individual talents needs and aspirations. San Sisto College offers school based apprenticeships and traineeships; alternative pathways for learning through nationally accredited certificate programs and access to enrolment in university subjects. Our students are active participants in Debating maths and Science competitions and Social Justice and Service programs.
San Sisto College is undergoing extensive development to meet its growing needs. Our new Performing and Creative Arts Centre tuckshop student Amenities and expanded and refurbished Library were opened recently. Our Siena Centre is a state of the art sport facility. By the end of 2013 all students will be a part of our one-to-one laptop program.
Location and Environment
San Sisto College is located in the leafy eastern suburb of Carina only 8 kilometres from the centre of Brisbane. The College’s central location ensures that it enjoys excellent access to major bus routes and is only a short bus ride to Cannon Hill Train Station.
San Sisto College is proud of its academic achievements with our girls receiving well above the state average in NAPLAN testing wonderful OP results asignificant number of prestigious scholarships for university study and excellent vocational opportunities.
Welcome from the Principal
At San Sisto College we are committed to the education of young women. Our aim is to provide a learning environment that supports the individual student to meet the challenges of the future. With an emphasis on academic achievement development of practical skills promotion of community harmony and a wide co-curricular program the college seeks to challenge each student in individual ways while fostering a strong feeling of community. The college provides an extensive curriculum which caters for the varied interests and needs of students seeking both academic and vocational outcomes with technology integrated across learning areas within the curriculum. We have adopted Dimensions of Learning as our authoritative pedagogy and we place a high regard on learning habits that sustain our young women through life. Students are also encouraged to participate within their community through involvement in a wide range of social justice activities.
