VALUES AND BELIEFS
Queenwood is an independent non-denominational day school based on Christian principles. We welcome girls of all faiths and foster understanding and acceptance of each other. Each student is encouraged and helped to reach her personal best in the academic extra-curricular and community life of the School. Underpinning personal success is the belief that if students work together to support each other they broaden their understanding of the worth of each person.
The Year Groups are small enough to provide the most effective academic and extra-curricular program for each girl. The Flexible Progression program at Queenwood responds to the individual needs of each of our students. The school can provide each student with appropriate intellectual stimulation and the learning environment to develop their gifts to the fullest. Queenwood provides early entry to Kindergarten flexible progression in one or more subject areas and Acceleration classes. Sometimes students are enriched by more detailed and in-depth examination of a topic. For students who struggle with academic challenges specific support is offered through the resource teacher.
We offer the IB program to our Senior students as an alternative to the Higher School Certificate. Information nights provide further information.
The beauty of Sydney Harbour surrounds both the Senior and Junior Schools. The classrooms are light and airy. Both the Junior and Senior Schools offer facilities tailored to the needs of twenty-first century education. Class homerooms and specialist rooms reflect the Junior School aim of making the early years of School as secure as possible while at the same time introducing the girls to specialist learning across the educational spectrum. All rooms are well planned with an emphasis on creating a stimulating learning environment. The Senior School boasts a strikingly main campus completed in 2003 on the site of the original school. The main campus houses most of the academic activities of the School and is a reflection of both the philosophy of the School and its determined embrace of the future. Contemporary learning spaces integrated technology specialist music and drama facilities and modem library are the key requisites in allowing students to take control of their learning in a strongly supported manner.
