The College provides a high standard of Catholic education as well as providing a social spiritual and cultural environment which encourages all students to reach their full potential.
At O’Loughlin Catholic College we aim to develop and nurture the Catholic tradition in our multicultural school community by: Celebrating our Catholic identity through Sacraments and Liturgy. Developing a welcoming college community built on respectful relationships. Recognising nurturing and celebrating the uniqueness of each individual. Endeavouring to facilitate each child’s journey towards their potential through quality teachingand learning practices. Developing student leadership qualities by encouraging good citizenship. Encouraging awareness understanding and an active engagement with issues of social justice.
The development of leadership is a vital part of educational formation. A Christian model of the "servant leader" is promoted. Leadership is seen as a responsibility of service to others. Leadership at the College is encouraged at all levels and students are given the opportunity to develop leadership skills through a variety of school activities. The Student Representative Council exists to provide opportunities for students across all year levels to develop leadership skills and to raise concerns or ideas for the betterment of the College Community. In Year 12 a group of 10 students are elected by their peers to form the Year 12 Leadership Team. These students go on a 3 day leadership camp where the two College Captains are selected by the Leadership Team.
The curriculum offered at O'Loughlin Catholic College is structured in accordance with the Northern Territory Curriculum Framework (NTCF) for years 7 & 9. Senior studies are underpinned by the knowledge and skills acquired during the middle school years. The senior academic structure is based on the requirements of the Senior Secondary Assessment Board of South Australia (SSABSA). Therefore the middle school years provide a strong background for building academic achievement in later studies.
