Teaching and Learning
The College is at the forefront of contemporary curriculum delivery because teachers pursue professional development in all fields of academic and co-curricular activity offered on campus. An emphasis is placed on the teaching and learning of young women and teachers are expected to critically reflect on all aspects of their practice. Learning is the key facet of community engagement and is social and collective as well as individual and personal. This is a community composed of learners and to facilitate our focus abroad range of core and extension subjects are offered to cater for the needs of all students. ‘Feminine justice’ (Gilligan & Richards ) is at the heart of communal engagement and this ensures that students become aware of themselves as citizens of an interconnected global world with particular emphasis on the ethical needs of women in this diverse plural world context.
Mary MacKillop College has a vibrant Music Program offering all students the opportunity to be involved in Instrumental Music Lessons viva La Voce Choir concert Band string Band and Rock Guitar Band. We have talented Highly qualified instrumental music teachers who are passionate about nurturing talent in our young musicians. Performing Arts Program
Young people live in an increasingly complex web of interacting cultures and subcultures. They need a learning environment that promotes imagination critical thinking cultural engagement communication creativity and problem-solving. Drama provides this learning environment both as an art form and as an aesthetic. Drama at the College is dynamic and exciting offering students a large range of experiences. Students discover a range of theatrical genres and practice the art of performance for a variety of audiences.
