MacKillop Catholic College is nestled amongst peppermint trees in a natural bush setting. The College has an enrolment of about 580 students in Years 8 to 12. We have a strong focus on Pastoral Care excellent facilities dedicated teachers awide range of subjects and a rich co-curricular program. Subjects offered at MacKillop endeavour to meet the needs of all students and encourage a balance between intellectual social spiritual physical and creative dimensions of life.
A Strong Sense of Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care at MacKillop encompasses all aspects of school life to create a caring community that promotes respect for the rights of every person. The program builds positive relationships on a number of levels and is exercised mutually by all members of the school community. Staff students and parents are encouraged to work together and are supported by the Pastoral Team and College Counsellor.
The College has modern facilities including a well-equipped Library performance Studio music Rooms computer and Science Laboratories. The College also boasts superb specialist facilities for Art and Craft wood metal and Food Production Technologies. Our grounds include well maintained hockey and football ovals as well as hard courts marked for tennis basketball and netball and are located within easy access to the Geographe Leisure Centre and Our Lady of the Bay Catholic Church and Community Centre. The College is working towards a 1 to 1 laptop programme and currently has around 200 laptops available for a range of classroom applications through a wireless and cable network onsite. Another 100 fixed desktop computers are located in the library and multimedia labs for research assignments and specialised classes such as Technical Graphics applied Information Technology and Multimedia.
The College's co-curricular program encourages teamwork loyalty and school spirit and the value of physical activity and cultural engagement with a range of opportunities to nurture the skills gifts and talents of students competitively as well as in service to the community and to each other. MacKillop Catholic College has a thriving performance and visual arts culture provides numerous opportunities to compete at interschool level in sport music and academic areas and develops skills for working together as a community trusting others and building friendships. An integral Service Learning programme encourages all students to use their initiative enthusiasm and time as well as their talents and skills to raise awareness of the needs of others and assist with worthy projects within the community.
